Buffalo Stampede 10 Miler

I decided to run this local race because I thought it would be a good way to do my long run at a fast pace. I was scheduled to run a 12 miler this weekend so I ran a 1 mile warm up before the race and was planning to run a 1 mile cool down after the race. Well, I ran this race pretty hard and ended up with a new 10k PR (!!), so with 11 miles in the bank I decided to skip the 1 mile cool down. I chatted with one of the Chips, who also said the intensity of the run would count towards that 1 mile cool down. That sealed the deal for me and I was just fine with 11 miles. ๐Ÿ™‚

I enjoyed running this race. It was well organized and the course was nice. I have never run this race before, but they changed the course this year and it was well shaded along the bike trail. I had not run this part of the bike trail before; it was nice to see another part of it. Although I probably would not run here for a long run on my own. I prefer to stick to my usual favorite spot along the American River.

There was plenty of parking race morning and it was free. Race packet pickup was easy. I would definitely run this race again.

Official time 1:19:39. Average pace 7:58 min/mi. Placed 1st of 8 in my age group; 29th of 261 females; and 92nd of 455 overall finishers.
